At just 7 km drive from Konark Temple, there is another beautiful and serene spot- Ramachandi Beach<\/em><\/strong>. This is one of the unspoilt, untouched and peaceful beaches nearby Puri with silvery sands, and the waves are not much turbulent. If you are looking for a beach, which offers a perfect ambience to get soaked in sand and sun, and unwind yourself, then Ramachandi Beach<\/em><\/strong> is an ideal spot. The beach is not much sloppy and thus makes a perfect place to enjoy the waters of Bay of Bengal. The confluence of Kusabhadra<\/em><\/strong> and Bay of Bengal is a sight to behold and fall in love with.<\/p>\n

A Perfect Picnic Spot- Ramachandi Beach<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Incredible Sunsets and Sunrises at Ramachandi Beach<\/em><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

A panoramic sight offered by this spot is the incredible dawn and dusk. The sunrises are so pristine that one is hardly able to forget the morning spent witnessing the sunrise over Bay of Bengal. And when did you last see the rising moon, accompanied by its millions of companions twinkling bright to illuminate the night!<\/p>\n

What an uncommon phenomenon it was for us back in our childhood when we could see sun and moon together, either at dawn or dusk. For us it was like two passerbies waving each other a good bye as of now before they again meet the next time.<\/p>\n

It had been a long time we witnessed this site. However, to relive those innocent times spend a quiet evening or a refreshing dawn at Ramachandi<\/em><\/strong> Beach, as every other sunset or sunrise is marked by the presence of the silvery moon peeping out of the sky as the sun retires.<\/p>\n

The Sunrise-<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is like an awakening- as if, along with the sun, you also get infused with a positive energy. At Ramachandi Beach, the unflawed atmosphere is perfect for rejuvenating the whole body and mind.<\/p>\n

The Sunsets-<\/strong><\/p>\n

The timeless beauty of nature switches its mode and as the moon rises, sun makes it way to bed. The sunsets are as alluring as the sunrises and you find yourself floating with the time among the gushing high tides.<\/p>\n

Ramachandi- The Presiding Goddess<\/u><\/h2>\n

Temple of Goddess Ramachandi<\/em><\/strong> adorns the Ramachandi<\/em><\/strong> Beach<\/em><\/strong>. Some believe that it is the temple of Sun God, Maya Devi<\/em><\/strong> and for others it the temple of most benevolent Chandi.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Goddess Ramachandi \u2013The month of Ashwin (7th<\/sup> Month of lunar Hindu calendar) sees the a num of devotees offering special prayers to the goddess<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Although the temple is believed to be older than Konark Temple, but before the construction of Konark Marine Drive, this spot was hardly accessible as it was hidden amidst think Casuarinas groves. It was only the locals who used to visit this place for worshipping the goddess. However, now the spot attracts a lot of people and is one of the best day-out destinations near Puri.<\/p>\n

The Kalapahad Tale<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just like other temples, the Ramachandi Temple<\/em><\/strong> too has mythological legend of which the negative protagonist is Kalapahad.<\/em><\/strong> As per the tales, Kalapahad<\/em> was a rebel Hindu Brahmin Rajiv Lochan Ray or Kalachand Roy Bhadury,<\/strong><\/em> who converted to Islam. As per many odia<\/em><\/strong> tales, it was Kalapahad<\/em> who is responsible for the collapse of Konark temple as he removed the magnet from the top. Later on when he approached Ramachandi<\/em> Temple, Goddess Ramachandi<\/em> herself came to stop him and dressed as Maluni <\/em><\/strong>(a maid servant). As Maluni,<\/em><\/strong> she offered to have some water and wait at the doors. Kalapahad <\/em>waited anxiously for long time but when Maluni <\/em>did not return, he entered the temple only to find it empty.<\/p>\n

He reached Kusabhadra River<\/em><\/strong>, where he found goddess floating on the waters. He had to return empty handed. \u00a0Later on, the deity appeared in the dreams of priest who built a temple for her, which stands as Ramachandi<\/em> Temple.<\/p>\n

The place can be easily visited and you can enjoy a very pleasing time at Ramachandi Beach.<\/strong><\/p>\n
